Turning of Ceramic Insulators

In addition to extruders for the production of solid and hollow ceramic billets, ECT-KEMA develops precision turning machines for shaping ceramic insulators with a wide variety of shed geometries.

These machines are particularly suited for the production of insulators used in HVDC (High-Voltage Direct Current) transmission applications.

With machining diameters from 200 to 500 mm and workpiece heights from 500 to 3,000 mm, the AKD series offers exceptional flexibility for processing a broad range of billet sizes.

Two billet clamping stations and a convenient automatic workpiece changer ensure fast, efficient, and uninterrupted production. Modern high-dynamic servo drives provide optimum power transmission during the turning process, while precision low-backlash guideways and ball screws guarantee outstanding machining accuracy.

Fast software adaptation for changing shed geometries enables maximum flexibility in insulator design and production.
